Michael and I met through mutual friends. We decided to meet up for dinner at Jervois Steak House, and it was literally love at first sight. I told him, “We should get married!” on our first date - well, the first time we met. Haha, he was so scared! I came on strong, but here we are now, married. He had a grand proposal in the works. It was everything I wanted and more. He spent a good year or two planning everything - he even designed my engagement ring himself through designers in Germany. It had a solid gold bar imported from Dubai and a hand-picked, glittering VVS flawless diamond.

Michael organised a getaway to Queenstown with a stay at the best room at the Hilton. He said we were going to visit his friend who was proposing to his partner. He told me to be all glammed up with my nails done so I would look fabulous in photos - that’s when I knew something was up because I told him, if you ever propose, PLEASE make sure my nails are done! He planned a helicopter trip up to the Remarkables and proposed to me at the top. He had a photographer and videographer there too! Before him, I’d never seen any proposal like that. It’s definitely a trend now, haha. But I was absolutely speechless that he made so much effort for me. It was so crazy we actually went into a snap lockdown just before we were supposed to go to Queenstown.

The day before our flight, we came out of lockdown! We were so lucky because he engraved the proposal date on my ring. If we were still in lockdown, he would have had to propose at home - but I still would have loved it and said yes. We wanted a grand summer wedding, but Covid had other plans. We had our date set for 02/02/2022, and I wasn’t going to change that for anything. We still went ahead but changed our guest list to under 60 people over 120. Jervois Steak House is our special spot. It’s where we first met, and every anniversary we go there for dinner because I told the waiter that we would be back every year. I also told them we would be married one day - they remember that too!

Kouki Weddings NZ was incredible. I simply love him and his work. He’s an absolute joy to have on the day. His work was flawless and delivered smack bang on time didn’t even need to ask him for a follow-up. Intimate Floral Studio was saintly! I was beyond stressed with wedding planning while working seven days and studying nursing full-time while doing my hospital placement at Middlemore. She helped me out so much in every way. She organised my flowers within my budget, my wedding cake, favours, helped with styling (including an amazing champagne tower), designed my place cards, pre-wedding shoot, and so, so much more. She made my life so much easier, and I couldn’t be more thankful because my wedding day was utterly perfect.
