Indian Weddings Auckland New Zealand

Raw moments. Real energy. No BS.

Auckland's Indian Wedding Photographer & Videographer: Hindu, Gujarati, Punjabi, Sikh, Indo-Fijian, South Indian & Islamic celebrations. Indian weddings aren't just events. They're full-on experiences.

Introduction

Kouki Weddings: capturing bold cultures, loud emotions, and timeless love stories across Aotearoa.

For years we've lived deep inside the world of Indian and South Asian weddings: Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Fijian, multi-day, multi-generation. Auckland's diversity gave us a front row seat, and honestly… we love every second of it. Indian brides marrying Kiwi grooms. Two cultures colliding in the best way possible.

We don't just "show up and shoot." We understand the Vidaai. The Saath. The Joota Chupai. The Mehndi. When to step in… and when to step back. Every couple, every family is unique, and that's exactly how we treat it.

Pre-Wedding

Where the energy actually kicks off.

Long before the vows, before the ceremony, before the venue lights up, the real magic begins. Mehndi nights, Sangeet performances, Jaggo dances: these are the moments families fly across the world for. Loud, beautiful chaos. Cousins choreographing routines at 2am. Mums crying-laughing through speeches.

Being trusted inside these moments isn't something we take lightly. We move through your celebrations like family, not like vendors with cameras.

Details & Prep

The quiet moments that hit the hardest.

The jewellery. The dupatta. The mangalsutra. The mehndi. The ceremony setup before the crowd arrives. We arrive early, capture it clean and intentional, then shift into prep mode: laughter, nerves, last-minute touch-ups.

No forced poses. No over-directing. Just you, surrounded by your people. These are the frames that bring everything flooding back later.

The Ceremony

Sacred. Traditional. Captured with care.

Indian weddings are deeply traditional and rich in ritual. With our experience across Hindu, Gujarati, Punjabi, Tamil, Sikh, Muslim and fusion ceremonies, we'll plan every group, every family portrait, and every bridal moment with you in advance, so the day flows smoothly and the candid blessings are never missed.

The Grand Celebration

Reception nights that hit different.

The grand entrance. The first dance. The speeches that make everyone cry. The dance floor that doesn't stop. We specialise in capturing Indian receptions across Auckland: Gujarati, Punjabi, Tamil, multicultural fusion.

Real laughter. Real reactions. Real energy. Delivered as photo and film that feels like the night actually felt.

Testimonials

Words from our couples.

The best wedding photographer you can have for your most special day in a lifetime! We discovered Kouki on Instagram just casually browsing, and we found later he had done my friend's pre-wedding shoot (amazing!). After a few back-and-forth messages, we decided Kouki was perfect for our wedding! Of course we had looked at other photographers too, but we didn't feel as connected with them. Kouki really spent time to chat with us, even just a normal hello on a daily basis. Thank you so much Michael, the photos were absolutely stunning, moments of love and laughter framed for a lifetime.

Cland & Ray

Mike was amazing! We met with other photographers, but we hit it off with Mike straight away. He was excellent and willing to help with things like other suppliers, run sheets, venue items, etc. if needed. On the day we felt so comfortable and our family and friends loved him too! We were so lucky to have him as our photographer, would highly recommend. His photos were stunning, and the turnaround time was incredible.

Tim & Casey

Kouki Photo & Video was one of the first vendors we booked when we got engaged, and we are so glad we did. From our first meeting with Michael, we kicked it off and shared the same high energy that carried throughout the planning process, engagement shoot, tea ceremony, and our wedding day. He is professional, funny, and easy-going. His team made the day seamless (sometimes we forgot they were around) and captured special moments we will cherish forever. Highly recommended!

Vaughn & Sandy

We are so happy that we chose Kouki and his team for our wedding day! They made wedding planning from a distance so easy and less stressful. They answered all the questions that came up and were reachable if we needed advice. The wedding day was very well organised and we just had to enjoy it. We are so satisfied, pictures and video are stunning. We hope someday we can visit New Zealand again and celebrate our anniversary with another awesome photoshoot with you.

Sander & Kerttu

Not all photographers are the same and you definitely can't go wrong with this legend. The man not only knows how to capture the perfect shot, he is also a top professional. He spent lots of time getting to know us way before the wedding, took the effort to really understand what we wanted, and as a result captured some amazing moments during the actual wedding day. Standing around setting up for a photo can be super dull and frustrating, but Kouki made that process super fun and cheerful with his little dances and jokes. Going through the photos a few months later, we are instantly brought back to each magical moment.

FAQ

The questions every Indian couple asks us.

Do you have public liability insurance?

I am fully insured & liability through Tower Insurance. If your venue needs proof of insurance just let me know and I'll be happy to provide that for you.

How many photos do you include?

We don't have a fixed number, but as a guide, we state how many images will be provided as an approximate. This all varies on a combination of things, number of locations, amount of guests, length of coverage, lighting etc.

How much is your deposit & When is the balance due?

A 35% retainer deposit is required to secure your booking and confirm your wedding date. The remaining 65% balance is due 30 days before your wedding day. The retainer deposit is applied toward your total package fee.

Can we meet you in person before we book?

Absolutely! It's excellent to meet face to face before your wedding day. It gives us a chance to get to know each other better, and importantly, makes sure we are the right fit for each other, as we'll be spending a lot of time together on the day. There's a couple of great bars & cafes in Auckland, I like to meet up at. We can then chat about your day over a coffee or beer. (depending on the time of day, haha) If you would preferably do everything via Zoom, phone or email, that's completely cool with me too.

Can you temporarily hold our date whilst we decide?

Unfortunately not. Wedding dates regularly book out on average 15 – 18 months in advance for photographers and I give priority and lock in those who pay a deposit first. Even if you have emailed me, and I was available at the time, that certainly doesn't mean that I will be forever available for your date. The only way to be sure to book me in is to pay a deposit & sign a contract as soon as possible.

Do you Travel?

Heck yeah! ! I absolutely love to travel. I'm passionate about taking photos in new and beautiful locations. I encourage you to have an adventure and get married somewhere where you always wanted to go! Let's have a chat about it!

We are not comfortable in front of the camera, can you help?

80% of our clients are not comfortable in front of the camera. Upon your request, I'll be happy to direct, lots of laughter and entertainment with you. We highly recommend booking in for a pre-shoot before the wedding to help you prepare for your big day.

Have you photographed at our venue before / will you visit the location of our wedding if you haven't been there before?

As a creative person, I love going to a wedding without having any expectations or predisposed ideas. As every wedding & couple is unique, I find that if anything is too pre-planned for the photos, that you may miss the opportunity to create real moments, that is yours, and not someone else's. You also never know what the sun/weather/light is going to be doing at any time on any given day (especially in New Zealand) Somewhere you may have thought wouldn't work well for photos, may have this amazing window of light at a specific moment, and vice versa. However, if it would make you more comfortable to do a site visit with me before your wedding, of course, I would be happy to.

How long will it be before we see any of our photos?

I will always send you a couple of edited preview photos the next 3-5 days after your wedding, so you've got something to view and share straight away. On average, the rest of the edited images will be supplied in an online gallery around 6 weeks after your wedding date. This depends on the time of year also, if you are getting married in the peak wedding season (October – April) – they may be longer. If you are getting married in winter when there are fewer weddings, probably a fair bit quicker.

In what format will I receive the images?

Your images will be uploaded to a beautiful, user-friendly online gallery for you and your family to view and download in high resolution and share your pictures as you please.

Upon request, can we add a second shooter to our package?

Absolutely. We view your wedding photography as an investment and having a second shooter is a wise decision to protect it. It gives us a chance to be in two places at once and an opportunity to get creative whilst one photographer is shooting one story and the second another.

Do you offer wedding albums? Is there an option to add?

Yes, we do offer wedding albums. They are elegant and handmade, a deluxe piece of art by Queensberry. Happy to show you the albums on our catch up.
